Major Conferences (Tier 1)
ICASSP 2026
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing
ICASSP is the world's largest and most comprehensive technical conference on signal processing and applications. Covers the entire spectrum from speech and audio to machine learning and beyond.
Key Topics:
Interspeech 2026
Conference of the International Speech Communication Association
Interspeech is the world's most comprehensive conference on the science and technology of spoken language processing, and the premier speech-focused venue. Registration for 2026 is open on the official site.
Key Topics:
ASRU — no 2026 edition
IEEE Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding Workshop
ASRU runs every two years, in odd-numbered years, and alternates with SLT. There is no ASRU 2026 — the last edition was ASRU 2025 in Honolulu, and the next is ASRU 2027. For an even-year speech workshop, see SLT 2026 below.
Key Topics:
Specialized Conferences (Tier 2)
SLT 2026
IEEE Spoken Language Technology Workshop
SLT is the even-year IEEE speech workshop (it alternates with ASRU). Scope spans ASR, TTS, speech translation, spoken dialogue, speech-language models and spoken language understanding, with a strong challenges track.
Key Topics:
Odyssey 2026
The Speaker and Language Recognition Workshop
Odyssey is the premier workshop for speaker and language recognition research — voice biometrics, anti-spoofing, diarization, and speaker characterization. It runs biennially in even years.
Key Topics:
ML/AI Conferences with Speech Tracks
NeurIPS 2026
Neural Information Processing Systems
Top-tier ML conference. Speech papers typically focus on novel architectures, self-supervised learning, and theoretical advances.
Speech-Relevant Topics:
ICML 2026
International Conference on Machine Learning
Premier ML conference. Speech-related work often focuses on efficient architectures, optimization, and learning theory.

Conference Submission Tips
- ICASSP: The most forgiving of the tier-1 venues — a good home for solid incremental work and system papers.
- Interspeech: The most competitive venue for ASR; reviewers expect strong, well-run empirical results.
- ASRU / SLT: Focus on practical systems — production deployments and real-world evaluations score well. ASRU runs in odd years, SLT in even years; for 2026 that means SLT 2026 in Palermo, not ASRU.
- Timing: ICASSP's deadline is the earliest (~September the year before), then Interspeech (~February–March), then the odd/even-year workshop (~May–June) as a fallback.
- Code/Data: Papers with public code and reproducible results tend to fare better in review.
